Long Winded Instructions

Yes. Because if done right, you’ll have some sweat on your brow and some kick in your step. You’re living your best life.

Now this one, I should advise, has some heat in there. In fact, that’s one of the best properties of this concoction. The result of the jalapeño syrup is a slow burn finish. Yum!

Start by making... just... a real badass jalapeño simple syrup (as described here). You could just drink the syrup and be totally happy. But, we’re going to dress it up a little bit. Pour your tequila* and jalapeño simple syrup into a shaker. Add lime and lemon juice in the prescribed amounts. Now notice that the ingredients call for Meyer lemon juice. This is crucial! If you don’t have Meyer lemons, you may want to take a hard look at your life choices. Actually, it’s cool. If you have regular (read boring) lemons, you can just add a little fresh squeezed orange juice to sweeten it to Meyer levels. What’s that? You don’t have oranges either? **sigh

Now you’re gonna want to shake this real good in your shaker with imported artisan ice. Ok regular ice is fine. Strain into a fancy glass as you’ve presumably done many times before.

Here is your opportunity to kick it up a nick (not a notch, that would be copyright infringement). Give it a sip and see how you like the heat. Add red pepper flakes if you need more of that sweet, sweet, heat... bam! Now garnish with a jalapeño slice and a lime wedge because it’s nice to give your guests (or yourself) some options. Looks good too.

The result is as sweet and hot as your juicy double. You're welcome.

*We recommend Dobel tequila. It’s pricey, but well worth it in our opinion. Please note: this is not financial advice. Be sure to do your own research and make an informed decision.
