Combine vodka, grapefruit juice, prosecco, simple syrup, and lime juice in your shaker with ice. Shake like the dickens. Add a sugar rim and wedges of grapefruit and lime. Pinch your own cheek and enjoy.
I think most of us picture Grandma sitting at the breakfast nook with a sugar coated grapefruit, a glass of Prosecco, and a smile. Good times! When we set out to create a grapefruit based cocktail, we wanted to honor Grandma by delivering something well balanced and reminiscent of her favorite breakfast. And I think Grandmas everywhere will celebrate when you make one of these for them.
Start by gathering the freshest, loveliest, most bitter grapefruits you can find. Don’t worry, we’re gonna dial it back in the mix. Grab a good lime while you’re at it. Also vodka, Prosecco, and simple syrup. If you don’t have Prosecco, you should be ashamed of yourself, but you can easily substitute champagne or sparkling wine. You want the best for Grandma, but no need to break out the Dom Perignon in this case.
You’ll need simple syrup as well, which is just equal parts sugar and water, mixed until dissolved.
Combine all of that stuff I just mentioned in your shaker with some ice. Shake it like you’re at a Glen Miller concert. This should serve to make everything nice and cold, which is preferred for this sort of thing.
